The wellbeing of the ‘energy body’ is often overlooked, but this is a life-changer in your teen’s life.
Listen to today’s episode or read the post below to learn about my top 3 tips on what you as a parent need to focus on in terms of your teen’s energetic wellbeing.
Welcome to the fourth post of this 8-part series on holistic wellbeing for teens.
This series is on what you as a parent should be paying attention to when it comes down to the holistic wellbeing of your teen or preteen.
This post is about energetic wellbeing.
This is about having healthy energy, a healthy energetic body.
Let me briefly explain the energetic body.
Our physical body is made of atoms and molecules. Our organs and blood and bones, everything is made of tiny atoms.
Now, each atom has an electro-magnetic field around it. They add up so that our body has an energy field around it. This is our energetic body.
And our energy field interacts with the energy fields around us, those of other people.
For example, sometimes, if someone is standing behind you, you’d just know.
Or you notice if someone is looking at you.
Or when someone walks into the room you’re in, and you know that something is off even if they don’t say anything, or they’re not frowning, they don’t have any particular facial expression, it’s just the energy they’re emitting.
Our energy field is also sensitive to other living things, to pets, to plants and trees, as well as inanimate objects like electronics and your furniture. It actually interacts with the field of the entire planet, it interacts with that of the moon and the planets. I’ll not go that far today. But understand this:
The human body is an energy field, constantly interacting with the surroundings.
And to maintain our energetic health and vitality, we need to keep our energy field clean.
This is Energy Hygiene.
This is crucial for your teens’ wellbeing, at all levels.
Their energy impacts their physical wellbeing as well as their emotional and mental wellbeing.
Here are my top tips on what you can do as a parent.
Tip 1 – Provide opportunities for your teen to spend time in nature, to be outdoors.
There is nothing like mother nature to calm down our energy.
Tip 2 – Teach your teen basic energy grounding and clearing techniques.
These are very simple. One tool for everybody is mindful breathing. What’s key here is awareness, you are putting your attention on your breathing, you are being intentional on clearing your energy. Intention and attention – these are what will make the difference.
Other tools, other than breathing, include somatic practices, where you add physical touch and movement to breathwork.
Tip 3 – Encourage your teens to move their body.
Let them do mindful exercise, team sports, dancing, yoga, any sort of mindful movement where they are engaging their body and their mind together at the same time.
Quick Recap
When it comes to your teen’s energetic wellbeing, teach them energy hygiene and how to ground and clear their energy by:
- spending time in nature,
